Planting Barricade

Planting Barricade is a fast and easy way to improve your hunting property. Plant Barricade in the summer so it will be ready by hunting season. A 3-pound bag of Barricade will plant a quarter acre. That is one hundred feet square or 8 feet wide by a quarter-mile long. Barricade will last into the winter and then you can change things out next season when you replant it.

Stealth Stand Entry/Exit

Getting to and from your stand unnoticed and without disturbing deer is crucial. Barricade allows you to plant a wall of sorghum that blocks the view of your entry to and exit from your stand. Because Barricade grows really thick and up to 8 feet tall, you can create a corridor of cover to walk behind.

Create Funnels and Travel Corridors

Use Barricade to create funnels that strategically direct deer movement. Plant a line of Barricade in an open area to establish a travel corridor and to bring deer close to a blind or stand. Make an opening in Barricade and deer will use it to pass through.

Divide Food Plots

During the rut, bucks will travel looking for a hot doe. They will stop at the edge of a food plot to check it for does. If they don’t see anything, they will go back into the cover and continue on. Force the buck out of cover and into the food plot by dividing the plot with Barricade. Strategically plant Barricade so the buck will travel past your stand or blind.

Block Poachers and Gawkers

If you hunt near a road, drive-by traffic that stops to view deer in your food plots can make deer skittish and even clear out the plot. It can also cause the deer to avoid coming out during daylight. Or worse, it can tempt poachers. Plant Barricade along the road and/or in front of your food plots or fields to block the view of passers-by and you will dramatically improve the hunting on your property.

Create Blind Cover

The problem with hunting from a blind is that deer recognize it as out of place, especially soon after you set it up. This means you must brush it in or find some heavy cover in which to put it. Use Barricade to build blind cover exactly where you want it. This even allows you to do same day set-ups with portable blinds so you don’t have to leave them out to get weathered, destroyed or stolen.

Create Bedding Cover

Deer need food, water and cover. They will stay nearby if they have all three. Plant a Barricade bedding plot where you want deer to bed and it will improve your hunting. Plant the plot in a square or rectangle so it has some depth to it.

Winter Food Source

Barricade will last well into the winter and provide wildlife, especially turkeys, upland birds and songbirds with a winter food source. Deer, too! It can even make for a good spring turkey food source.

    Awesome product, creates a good wall to obscure entry and exit. In my experience most deer and wildlife do not like the typical grain sorghums as a food source. The deer and other wildlife loved the seed heads later in the fall into early winter. I’m planting some for screening and a thick dense patch as a late season food plot.

We wanted to plant barricade on the edge of our property that lines the road to keep people from being able to see into our fields driving by. This crop grew so tall and thick and did exactly what we wanted it to do. The deer are less disturbed when cars drive by and our comfortable in the fields. We also noticed a lot of deer bedding in the barricade through the season! HIGHLY Recommend!

    Getting ready to start 2022 spring in Michigan. When I first read up on Barricade from Antler King, I was very skeptical. 8-foot high!! Well, I’m here to tell everyone that this product is the real deal. Been using it for 4 years and it works. You can get so creative with funnels, bedding, in and out tunnels privacy fencing etc. Every year I try new setups on my farm, Just follow the directions and it works. Thanks Antler King.

    There needs to be more information on this website planting the Barricade product other than a video.
    -planting charts?
    -how much sunlight is needed for maximum growth?
    -will it grow underneath forest
    canopy?
    -will it grow in mountainous terrain or on the side of hills or in bottoms?
    -will it grow in or around wetland areas and swamps?
    -how many days does it take to fully mature?
    -is it tolerant to herbicide if so what kind?
    -etc.
